Meet Dr. Sam King

Samuel B. King, D.D.S., M.S.

I’ve been blessed to have some fantastic people come before me. My grandfather, Dr. Ben King, started the practice in 1953. He was an incredible orthodontist and an incredible man. My father, Dr. Jack King, followed in his example and together formed an awesome team. Their goal was to treat their patients to the highest standards of orthodontics and customer service and they did it with great passion.

Today, I am lucky to stand on the shoulders of giants and continue the same commitment to excellence in orthodontics initiated by these two great men.

I am proud to have grown up in Dayton, Ohio. I was fortunate to know I wanted to become an orthodontist at an early age. I attended The Ohio State University and received early admittance to Dental School because of my excellent undergraduate record. In addition to my regular dental school courses, I took additional externships in occlusion, studying how teeth should fit together for proper health. I also did extensive research on the genetics of cleft lip and palate.

After receiving my D.D.S. at O.S.U., I then gained acceptance to the Ivy League orthodontic residency at the University of Pennsylvania. I completed a three-year residency in orthodontics and received my Masters of Science in Oral Biology. During that time, I also took additional training in facial and dental esthetics and function and completed the two-year course at the Roth-Williams Advanced Education in Orthodontics Program.

Upon graduation from my residency, I joined my father in private practice in Dayton, Ohio. What an incredible privilege! Additionally, I was asked to be an instructor at the University of Pennsylvania where I traveled back to teach orthodontic residents. At this time, I also earned my Board Certification and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, which I am very proud of.

I’ve served on the Board of the Dayton Dental Society and have also been the youngest president of the Roth-Williams International Society of Orthodontics. I am a proud member of the Super Schulman Study Group, the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Ohio Dental Association, and Dayton Dental Society.

My greatest achievement, though, is marrying the love of my life, Gwyn. She makes me a better person and a better orthodontist. She has also blessed me with the two greatest joys of my life, Vivian and Jack.

I am excited to take excellent care of all my patients and to give them “….the smile of their life!”
