FAQ

Do Damon Braces Really Move Teeth Faster?

Damon Braces are perhaps one of the best ways that patients can straighten their teeth faster, with fewer appointments and without having to deal with any extractions or expanders in their treatment.     Damon System Braces

How long have Damon Braces been around?

Damon Braces have been around since the early 90s but since that time they have been constantly revised to shorten treatment times and make them even more comfortable.

How are Damon Braces different from traditional metal braces?

Damon Braces differ from traditional metal braces because they are self-binding or self-ligating braces. Traditional metal braces are fixed to teeth and then they are adjusted by an orthodontist, but the self-binding braces have specialty doors and slides that work to move teeth with constant adjustment and pressure. Because there is always force on your teeth moving them into the position you can effectively reduce the length of your treatment and experience far fewer appointment visits because your braces will not need constant adjustments.

Do Damon Braces hurt?

With the constant pressure on your teeth, you are bound to feel your braces a little bit more than you would with traditional forms of treatment. Some discomfort does occur but this is only because your teeth are under constant pressure and this is a good thing. Many patients when they get their braces adjusted at an orthodontist's office will experience the same discomfort. Having this pressure constantly applied to your teeth will do wonders for your treatment because your teeth are constantly moving towards their proper positions.

What are the advantages of the Damon Braces System?

A big advantage to the Damon Braces System is that the braces themselves are very discreet. The braces are by no means invisible like with other treatment options such as Invisalign but they are much less noticeable than traditional metal braces because of the shape of their sliding brackets. Patients also won't have to worry about any pesky elastics throughout the course of their treatment either which can reduce some of the hassles of undergoing treatment.
