How do you begin your day? Most people start their day with a prayer while others begin it with a cup of coffee. For busy individuals, their day usually starts by taking a bath and preparing everything they need for work or school. While others are busy at the beginning of their day, some people also have the luxury to relax, watch the views from their windows, or jog in the park at the start of their day. Provided with the wide array of activities you can do right after you wake up in the morning, only few people begin a new day with a simple smile.
Beginning your day with a smile is like beginning your day right. It means you are happy and thankful that you still get to wake up for the morning and experience life once again. You may have a lot of problems and struggles at the moment but smiling makes all your worries go away. You will feel light, your pain will be alleviated, and your heart will be lifted. Beginning the day with a smile not only benefits yourself but also those around you. People get to be reminded to appreciate life as it is and their pain will also slowly go away.
Overall, no matter what you do in your daily routine, always don’t forget to smile and be positive so you could finish your day without difficulty. If you got problems with smiling, let the experts know so they could help you fix your problems.

Brushing your teeth is one way of cleaning your mouth but this is not enough in order to keep the bacteria out. Even if you’re already applying the right way of brushing your teeth, your mouth can still be prone to plaque buildup. Why? It is because of your tongue. Cleaning your tongue is necessary in order to make sure that you covered up all grounds. Brushing your tongue is a good way to clean it but there’s actually a better way to do it.
Using a tongue scraper every morning in order to remove plaque buildup can save your mouth from the stinky smell caused by the bacteria. The reason why you still have a bad breath even after brushing is that you are not thoroughly cleaning your mouth from teeth to tongue. Always bear in mind that bacteria from tongue can still affect your teeth and hence cause decay overtime if neglected. According to Dr. Katz, using a tongue scraper is actually more effective than just brushing your tongue. So, keep your mouth healthy by cleaning both your teeth and tongue with a toothbrush and a tongue scraper.
If you are suffering from bad bites and other malocclusion problems, then it’s time to visit the experts. Undergoing an orthodontic treatment is the best way to correct these problems and prevent future problems from occurring. The earlier you treat your problems, the bigger possibility for you to get the desired results. Therefore, don’t wait until it’s too late. Contact the best orthodontic clinic in your area now!

Don’t Forget your Tongue while Brushing

Getting braces can seem like the end of the world to a young athlete. Many kids worry that having braces will disqualify them from certain sports, or even that their performance might be affected. However, braces are not necessarily the end to a burgeoning sports career. Luckily, there are a few options to allow young people with braces to play sports comfortably.
Once your young one is fitted with that new set of shiny braces, he or she may be anxious to see how they hold up under sporting conditions. One of the annoyances of playing sports with braces is that the inner mouth is susceptible to small nicks and scratches. These minor wounds are caused by physical contact with the face, which pushes the inner mouth against the sharp edges of the braces. In most cases, such minor cuts will cause a small amount of bleeding. At worst, they may result in something akin to a bloody lip.
The solution to playing sports with braces is to use mouth-guards. Mouthguards are made of a moldable, plastic material that will form to the shape of the teeth and braces. In many contact sports, mouthguards are a required piece of equipment regardless if the player has braces. Orthodontists recommend keeping the mouthguard clean with regular washings. It is also recommended that young people fitted with braces brush their teeth after wearing a mouthguard to clean out the buildup of bacteria.
Some lucky athletes may be able to avoid braces and mouth cuts altogether. The orthodontists advise that young people using Invisalign aligners (instead of braces) may be able to keep them in for some types of sports. The smooth surface of the Invisalign devices will prevent cuts in the interior of the mouth. Non-contact sports such as tennis or track are perfect for Invisalign use. If the sport is a rough contact sport, such as football, the athlete may remove the aligners altogether and participate using only a mouthguard. However, no Invisalign tips would be complete without reminding that the athlete needs to put the aligners back in after the game!
Most kids won’t notice the difference from being active without braces before and after with them actually on. Yet one thing that could affect a young athlete after getting braces is the discomfort experienced after adjustments. When the orthodontist adjusts braces (to tighten them) it is common to feel mouth pain which can be accompanied by a headache. This may affect your child’s ability or desire to perform at their best. One suggestion provided by the orthodontists, is to give your child or teen a small dosage of Tylenol to manage the soreness or pain. Cold treats, such as popsicles, can also help to numb the pain; just be sure to remind your young athlete to brush afterwards!

Gazing into the mirror with your little one, you realize that his or her teeth are not quite straight or perhaps the dentist told you that at your last visit. Whatever the case may be, you want to help your child rejuvenate his or her smile, so you’ve scheduled an appointment with King Orthodontics.
Several different types of braces exist, and ultimately, the orthodontist will let you know which ones are available for your child. Aesthetic or ceramic braces present a possibility. These braces are generally not visible to people. For children who don’t want the world to see their braces or for adults who are opting to get braces at a later age, this type presents a suitable alternative to the traditional metal braces. However, you are probably worried about how much they are going to cost you, especially in comparison to traditional braces.
Depending upon where you go, where you live and other elements, the exact price of aesthetic or ceramic braces is going to vary. Everyone wants affordable braces, but even the definition of affordable varies from person to person. Most estimates put these types of braces in the $6,000 range, but that figure can vary upward or downward by a couple, or even a few, thousand dollars. Consulting with an orthodontist is crucial to truly knowing how much you would have to spend on braces for your child’s unique situation.
While the average cost of braces at your orthodontist and in your area is going to have a major effect on how much these braces cost, so will other factors. For example, some children need braces only on the top or only on the bottom, so you wouldn’t pay as much as for a full set. The cost can also go up if you and your child are not properly taking care of the braces. If something breaks, then the braces could cost more money in repairs. The longer your child has braces, the more likely these repairs might be; therefore, the length of time that your child will have braces can affect the overall costs.
When facing a sum of several thousand dollars, many wonder how they are going to afford the price tag attached to braces. Yet they know that these braces are a necessity for their children. You should first find out if the practice takes your dental insurance and how much of the braces will be covered. In the event that you are unable to have the braces covered by insurance, find out if payment plans are offered. Paying several thousand dollars broken down over the months is generally less challenging than making one lump sum payment.
Ultimately, the exact price that you’re going to pay for your child’s braces depends upon a number of factors. To work toward getting a price quote, schedule an appointment with King Orthodontics today.

The simple answer to the question, “How do braces work?” is that the steady pressure that is applied by orthodontic appliances over the course of treatment slowly aligns the teeth in the desired position. However, in order to ensure that the teeth are moving correctly and safely, adjustments do need to be made to the wires on a regular basis, which typically means monthly trips to the orthodontist‘s office. These monthly adjustments can result in tenderness in the mouth for a day or two following an office visit, and for many busy families scheduling appointments for adjustments can sometimes be difficult.
However, recent advances in orthodontics may reduce the number of adjustments required over the course of treatment through the use of specially designed wires made of material developed by NASA. These special wires are activated by a patient’s own body heat and can adjust with the patient’s mouth rather than requiring regular adjustment. These space-age wires also have the ability to maintain their pre-designed shape to move the teeth to their desired alignment. This state of the art technology is an option that is helpful in providing a more comfortable orthodontic experience for many patients, and may offer the added convenience of scheduling fewer trips to the orthodontist for a simple adjustment.

An orthodontist’s job may be something that’s very different than what you may think. Many think that an orthodontist is simply an extension of the dentist but in all truth it’s very different from the latter. Orthodontists need to keep doing extensive research to offer their patients better treatment options as well as make sure that they have the latest qualifications from various manufacturers and orthodontic appliance providers. Providing the highest quality technology and treatment options can allow them to cut down treatment’s duration as well as offer up treatment for a variety of different conditions that may affect their patients. New treatments that are available such as Invisalign and Suresmile are extremely revolutionary and are cutting down treatment times and the ease of treatment exponentially. Want to know how Invisalign works? Watch the video!
Before you receive any type of orthodontic care there are some great questions that you can ask your orthodontist to make sure that he or she has the required qualifications:
– Which state did you receive your accredited orthodontic license and where are you currently licensed as an orthodontist?
– Did you attend an accredited full-time residency in and orthodontic program? If so which program?
– In which position did you graduate in dental school? Were you near the top of your class?
– Are you a qualified dental specialist, or a full-fledged orthodontist?
When it comes to dental specialists any number of names can be thrown around such as; pediatric dentists, oral surgeons, endodontists, prosthodontists and more. These types of dental specialists have merely specialized in a specific piece of dentistry and this does not make them qualified orthodontists.
Orthodontists are perhaps one of the most rare specialties for dentists to pursue after they complete their qualifications at a school of dentistry. Just 6/100 dentists qualified for an orthodontic program out of a dental school. Orthodontists then need to complete a grueling two-year residency program and then qualified to get a certificate in orthodontics after their residency is completed. Only after they have completed this extra education and received their certification, are these individuals suited to provide treatment in the field of orthodontics.

Orthodontist – A Better Option for your Dental Treatment
Samuel B. King, D.D.S., M.S. – King Orthodontics – Specialist in Orthodontics for kids, teens and adults in Centerville and Fairborn.
Orthodontics is a medical field that specializes in correcting various teeth defects and offers various services such as fixing of braces to correct teeth related problems. Orthodontic treatment thus entails the incorporation of the recent technological advancement all in an aim geared towards offering better solutions to its patients. China has been ranked as one of the top countries that are offering these services in the whole world.
In explaining about orthodontic treatment, one needs to know the importance of this service and the possible consequences if this service is not administered. In addition to that, it is also equally important to know the various forms of administering this service. Some of the importances of carrying out this service to a patient includes, help in correcting teeth misalignments. Some of the cases that comes in with teeth misalignments includes, over biting which is a case experienced when the upper jaw is bigger than the lower jaw. The reverse of the above case is under biting which is a case when the lower jaw is bigger than the upper jaw.
It also helps in correcting cases of overlapping of teeth which may cause the victim to bite the tongue while chewing or when talking .Crooked teeth can also be corrected using this method. The age of fixing these braces varies in different people; many people fix these braces immediately when these defects start appearing while others prefer to correct the defect at a later date. In extreme cases, fixing of the wrong braces has resulted in teeth removal. Teeth removal on the other hand comes with its own complications which are discussed below.
It tends to change the shape of the face as well as the size of both the upper and the lower lips, it is thus important to correct these defects at an early stage as a precautionary measure. Before fixing these braces one should weigh both fixing of these braces and use of other dental appliances. Second to that, the choice of the type of braces should be done by professionals as fixing of the wrong braces can call for teeth removal .The process of teeth treatment or teeth removal sometimes proves to be an uphill task, this implies that close examination is required before the process starts. This examination makes use of beam of rays which may impact negatively on the patient’s health.
Some of the complications that come in with use of these radioactive rays include, frequent headaches as well as loss of memory. Gamma rays have been proven by many specialists to trigger cancer cells which cause uncontrolled growth of body cells. Some examples of these braces includes the lingual braces, ceramic braces and lastly though not the least the Invisalign braces .Lingual braces are preferred by many patients as well as parents since they are invisible. In most cases the lingual braces are fixed on the upper set of teeth while on the other hand the ceramic braces are fixed on the lower set of teeth.

Orthodontics: An Insight

Many people debate on the period of when they should still have their braces on, it is worth noting that the process of correcting teeth misalignment in most cases takes a long period. Orthodontists advise their patients to have their braces on for a period of not less than two years. During the initial phase, crowding is usually corrected by the removal of the teeth. It is not possible to correct teeth when there is no space between them. The orthodontist may choose to expand or to contract depending on a number of variables such as the size of the jaws, the size of the teeth and the size of the gum that is supporting the roots. The main aim of the first step is creating a room for aligning the teeth.
In cases where patients have spaces between their teeth during this initial process, the spaces are closed in this step. When a patient has some missing teeth, they might need to have the teeth on the jaw with the right number of teeth to be reduced so that they can match the jaw with the missing teeth. However, wearing of the braces should be put in a great concern as it may impact negatively on the child’s morale and self-esteem. At an early age, wearing of dental appliances should be greatly being considered before wearing of dental of braces.
Teeth misalignments may greatly lower the child’s morale and self esteem, especially when approaching adolescence. It is thus wise for a parent to correct teeth misalignment in a child before approaching the age of puberty. Also, if a jaw has extra teeth these will have to be removed too if they affect the tooth structure. When you are having your teeth removed, you should consult your dentist. Have them weigh all the available options and notify you of what to expect once some of the teeth are removed. It helps to know all the possible consequences since it will be less stressful when some of the negative effects start to kick in.
Before removing the braces, also enquire whether the problems have actually been solved as it may cause teeth removal in future. You might need to have a second and even third opinion regarding this. If removal is the only option, they should give you some options to take care of the facial structure once the teeth are removed, such as reconstructive surgery. The factor that makes patient to remove these braces includes discomfort and restriction to the type of diet they eat.
Another demerit with lingual braces is that they are not universal, up to date, there are not many orthodontists who offer lingual braces, since some of the current one’s might have to incur additional cost in looking for and commuting to a dentist who offers lingual braces procedures. Also, one might not feel really comfortable getting their braces put in by a dentist who they have no prior experience with.

As an experienced orthodontist, when to remove braces is a common question I often get from my patients. The treatment of every patient is different, during the removal of the braces. However, there are basic steps and requirements that are followed in the treatment process of most patients. Please read on if you have braces, and you would like to know how you are progressing.
In the office of a professional orthodontist, you are supposed to pass through a treatment process of three steps. The process includes spacing of the teeth, correcting the bite and aligning the teeth. They must nto always follow a discernible order, they can be switched or an overlap can be created between them.
One room has been created; the following thing is alignment of the teeth. Alignment or straightening is accomplished by the use of wires, springs and elastic chains or any other gadgets that have the ability to rotate, as well as adjust the teeth into the desired direction. Reposition of individual teeth bracket is another activity that takes place during alignment. In some cases, it is not possible to put brackets in the right spaces because of a bite on the first day. When teeth have been aligned, it becomes easier to place the brackets at better positions.
The third phase of treatment entails correcting of the bite, or making the upper teeth to fit lower ones. The question of when you should get off the braces usually ensues in this phase of the treatment. At this time, the patient has well straightened teeth and he is happy and contented of the treatment. The results of the correction of the patients bite are stable and healthy. If you would like to know whether it’s time to get your braces off, please check for the following;
Have your teeth straightened?
Are there anymore spaces between your teeth?
Do you still have an overbite or under bite?
If there are still spaces between your teeth, or you still have an under bite or overbite, then it means you still have some more time. If you still have questions concerning your smile, feel free to contact King Orthodontics and you will get an explanation of the remaining aspects of your treatment. The orthodontist will ensure that your braces are only removed when you have achieved the best of results. Best of Luck!

Your Day of Independence: How to Know When

A patient previously asked me this question, why do you want to have an X-ray of my teeth, yet I would only want to have my straightened? This is a very sensible question, and it can be explained with a variety of reasons. Before you know they reasons, you need to understand that teeth are very hard surfaces, and it is not possible to know what happens inside them without having an x-ray. Also, a tooth resembles an Iceberg since there is a huge space of the tooth that cannot be seen at any time unless we use an X-ray.
X-rays are images that are created when you pass a beam of radiation through a body. The beam of light hits a sensor, which take the image of the surface in a film on the other side. They can create pictures which can be used to show the differences of the surfaces of the body in terms of shape and density. The x-ray that is taken by a dentist is known as a bitewing. A bite wing helps the dentists to understand the nature of tooth in terms of the quality of the enamel, roots and inner canals. On the radiograph, fillings and the enamel appeal white color since they are dense. The decay, the root canal and the bone around the teeth usually appear to be less dark in the image since they are less dense. A dentist has a special training to read and understand the dark and light patterns so that they use them to distinguish between abnormal and normal tissues.
If you cannot see the root of the tooth, it is not possible to tell how healthy the tooth is. In fact treatment should begin with an X-ray to avoid damaging roots that are already weak when we are in the process of straightening. X-rays are also very resourceful since they help us to understand the shape and the size of the jaws. An X-ray will also help an orthodontist to understand the angle at which the teeth could be lying. The same angle is used during treatment to rectify or straighten the teeth.
There many reason x-rays are very critical for orthodontics. One of these reasons is the fact that orthodontists are also dentists. This means that they have to focus on different things and they have the responsibility of identifying any present pathogens in teeth.
In the process of treating orthodontic problems, they also require x-rays. The x-rays that they conduct focus more on the form of the teeth as well as the position of the jaws. These practitioners are interested in extra, missing, misplaced teeth, missing teeth, long, short and misshaped bones. For the problem with the jaws, they are especially interested in asymmetrical jaws, too big or too small jaws. These x-rays provide them with critical information that helps them to understand the nature of problems among their patients as well as formulate the best plans to solve the problems of their patients.
