Teeth extraction. There are many reasons a person could need to have many a tooth extracted. Although the most common reasons are because of decay or breakage, some of the other reasons include new teeth being blocked from growing in properly, ivories that need to be removed in preparation for orthodontic treatment, gum disease affecting the teeth’s bone structures and supporting tissues, cosmetic reasons and the installation of dentures. Whatever their reason is for having them removed, there are millions of people who share one common concern. These people are worried the appearance of their face will be ruined due to the extraction process.
Yes. There is the possibility that your face could experience a slight change upon completion of your orthodontic treatment for the removal of permanent fangs. It is important for people to understand that if any changes in your facial appearance do occur, they will be extremely minor. In fact, most people experience changes that are so small they are not able to be easily seen. So if you are worried that you will end up looking like the Elephant Man after your orthodontic procedure, you can now put those fears to bed for good. It is simply not going to happen.
If your orthodontist suggests that you have some of your teeth removed, he or she is not doing so on a whim. The extraction of teeth is a serious matter and should never be taken lightly. Your orthodontist understands this, so if a recommendation to extract teeth has been made, you obviously have a situation which is serious enough to make your orthodontist believe that extraction is the only course of action. A dental professional’s first priority is to attempt to save the teeth. This is sometimes not possible and extraction is called for. A lack of space in the mouth is a frequent cause for the removal of teeth. Models, pictures and x-rays will all be thoroughly studied before the decision to extract your teeth is made.
A highly trained orthodontist will do everything in his or her power to make sure your appearance does not change after your procedure. The removal of teeth is a procedure that can not be reversed. Therefore, extra care must be taken before this course of action is decided upon. Your orthodontist will first try to come up with an alternative plan that will allow him or her to save every one of your teeth. The position of your lips, the size of your teeth and the size of your jaws are all important details that will be considered as part of the decision making process. If you have a profile you are happy with, your orthodontist will do their best to preserve it.
While it is possible that you will experience minor facial changes if you have teeth removed, these changes will undoubtedly be much more noticeable if you do not have the teeth removed when it is recommended. When a person’s teeth are crowded at a moderate or severe level, the teeth in the front will gradually be pushed forward as the arches start their alignment. Along with the front teeth, the overlying lips will also begin to make their slow journey forward. When this happens, the person will often end up with buck teeth. This will frequently result in a person having difficulty closing their lips. In a case like this, the person’s appearance is much worse than if the teeth had been removed.
While the perception is that the extraction of teeth will only hurt a person’s appearance, the truth is that it is often improved in many cases. When teeth are removed from the side and braces are used to push the front teeth back, a person will no longer have buck teeth that protrude and look unappealing. There is another advantage to having this procedure performed. By pushing the front teeth back in the mouth, the lips will be able to close in a way that appears attractive and natural. This will help the profile of the patient to be improved.
There are many people who believe they should avoid having any of their ivory removed at all costs. While a tooth should never be removed for a frivolous reason, it is important to remember that your orthodontist only has your best interest at heart. He or she would never make the recommendation to extract your teeth unless they thought it was going to help your appearance and orthodontic treatment in the long run. There is one other important thing you should keep in mind as you go along your orthodontic journey. A trained orthodontist will know all of the changes that naturally happen in a person’s face as they age. Because of this, they will be able to predict these changes before they happen and formulate a treatment plan to effectively combat them.

Few things enhance a person’s face more than a great smile. One way to achieve a great smile is with teeth that are shiny and straight. Not everyone has naturally perfect teeth, but an orthodontist can help almost anyone reach that goal. Giving its patients straight teeth is the goal of King Orthodontics.
In addition to affecting one’s appearance, teeth that are crooked or improperly spaced can hamper the chewing process. Misaligned teeth can also be difficult to clean and are more susceptible to cavities and disease. An orthodontist is a dental specialist who is specifically concerned with straightening teeth. This can be accomplished with braces, devices that when worn will straighten misaligned teeth and close unsightly gaps between them. The following types of braces are available from King Orthodontics:
Invisalign aligners offer promise to many patients by the way they straighten teeth in a comfortable and inconspicuous manner. Using the latest technology, these devices “predict” the way in which a person’s teeth need to be straightened and carry out the task. They are worn in stages, which each set being replaced about every two weeks. By exerting a small amount of pressure, the aligners will slowly move the teeth into the desired position. These devices are also unique in the way they can be removed for cleaning or when eating. Additionally, they are virtually invisible to the outside.
Only an orthodontist can determine the needs of each patient. Whether you are considering Invisalign aligners or conventional braces, you should consider turning to the services of Drs. Sam and Jack King. Its team of dental specialists is committed to giving patients the smile of their lives. Call for an appointment at 937-433-0830.

3 Ways to a Better, Brighter Smile
I love orthodontics. I love the challenge of creating healthy and beautiful smiles. I love the people I get to meet and interact with on a daily basis. I love taking care of my patients and giving them a smile they can be proud about.
When you smile, your teeth shine brightly for everyone to see your happy mood. Everyone’s smile is different, and it adds personality to your facial features. From baby teeth to new crowns, your mouth always needs a doctor’s care. You might have no apparent dental problems, but it’s still important to visit an orthodontist. This specialist focuses on the alignment between the teeth and jaw. Take a closer look at why a doctor’s visit is necessary and how it can help you.
Samuel B. King, D.D.S., M.S. – King Orthodontics – Specialist in Orthodontics for kids, teens and adults in Centerville and Fairborn.
There is an old proverb about giving a sad friend one of your smiles, but if your teeth are crooked and unattractive, then you need to visit an orthodontist first. Today, it is possible to improve your smile in only a few months because braces are designed using computer software. When an examination at an orthodontic facility reveals that braces are necessary to repair your malocclusions, the wires and brackets are customized to shift your teeth quickly. If you don’t want to have a metallic appearance on your teeth, then request ceramic brackets and invisible wires instead.
When an orthodontist notices that you have mild misalignments of your teeth, it is possible to wear Invisalign aligners for one year or less. With this orthodontic treatment, you can give a beautiful smile to a friend faster. With plastic aligners, you receive multiple sets of the removable devices, making it easier to brush and floss your teeth each day to avoid bad breath or cavities. You must wear each set of aligners for approximately two weeks, and you can smile as much as you want while wearing aligners because the items are 100 percent clear.
If you live in Ohio, then schedule an appointment with King Orthodontics where there are two orthodontists, including:
• Dr. Jack King

Do you hide your smile behind your hand? In pictures are your lips always tightly closed? You do not want people to see your smile, but why? Sometimes people are ashamed of teeth that aren’t straight. Gaps and overbites can be embarrassing. Please don’t live your life being afraid to smile. Quality orthodontics are available to help turn that smile into one you will want to show the world.
An orthodontist can recommend ways to perfect your smile. Options like braces are a wonderful way to straighten teeth. Invisalign aligners are an option, too. Your doctor will show you all of your options and explain the procedures, costs, and time required to make your smile a work of art.
With standard braces, brackets placed on the teeth hold metal wires in place. The orthodontist will check them periodically. Adjustments will be made depending on where the teeth are and where they need to be. In about two years, the teeth will be in the correct position. Wearing a retainer will help to keep them in the correct spot. Braces are great options for younger people. However, it is tricky to learn to floss correctly while wearing these. You must watch what you eat and avoid sticky foods.
For adults, invisalign aligners are clear, removable orthodontics that gradually straighten teeth. Most people wear the aligners for two weeks. They are then replaced with the next one in the set. In about two years a straight smile will be in place. With the removable invisalign, you can floss and brush easily. Eat whatever you like. Then put the aligners back in place. Your orthodontist will check your progress regularly. Never hide your smile again. Get a great smile and show the world. Talk with a professional today.

An old proverb says, “All people smile in the same language.” A warm smile is the first thing people notice when they meet you, so shouldn’t your smile look its best? If your smile isn’t perfect or you aren’t confident letting it shine, consider King Orthodontics. An orthodontist is a specialist who can give you confidence in your smile through several options for fixing incorrect tooth spacing, crooked teeth, or bite problems.
Many orthodontists offer a variety of options to correct orthodontic issues and make your child’s smile shine. Adults can also benefit from an orthodontist’s expertise, so if you’re feeling embarrassed about your smile, fret no more! You can choose from traditional metal braces or the modern, clear Invisalign system. Your orthodontist can do a thorough exam to determine which option is best for you.
Traditional braces are made from stainless steel and are now smaller and more comfortable than ever before. The ability to choose the colors of the bands used to position teeth often appeals to children and teens. Adults may prefer ceramics due to their cosmetic benefits. The ceramic type are translucent and less noticeable than steel braces.
Invisalign is a newer, more cosmetically-appealing system of correcting orthodontic issues. It works by using computer-designed clear trays to gradually move teeth. The trays are easier to clean and look more attractive, making them popular with teens and adults alike. This system is modern and corrects teeth that are crooked, gapped, or causing bite problems to make your smile its most attractive.
A smile speaks volumes, no matter where you go. A friendly smile can brighten someone’s day, reassure, or welcome conversation. It’s your first impression, so make it a good one.

If you’ve been seeing an orthodontist for any length of time and you are preparing for corrective dental measures, you’ve probably been told at least once of a laundry list of foods you can’t eat. Braces of all types have restrictions on diet, usually because certain foods can damage or get inextricably stuck in the apparatus. Foods like caramels, seeds, popcorn, all can damage your braces or just get frustratingly wedged between teeth or wires, causing discomfort at best or a trip to your orthodontist for repairs at worst.
Fortunately, there are many delicious recipes available for you to enjoy, regardless of dietary or dental restrictions. This three-bean vegetarian chili is a great way to add some spice to your life without messing up your braces or hurting your teeth.
Healthy eating is an important part of any sensible lifestyle, but it’s doubly important when you’re enhancing the smile of yourself or a loved one. Even if you’re working with Invisalign trays instead of conventional aligners, this three-bean vegetarian chili recipe will still be a family favorite and one you can enjoy without worrying about how it will affect your progress.
Focusing on healthy, easy-to-eat foods is a great way to get proper nutrition, but it also helps relieve the stress of worrying about if a food is treatment-acceptable. Having an arsenal of family-approved recipes like this chili will go a long way to ensuring a happy crew, regardless of what their dietary restrictions might be. This hearty chili is easy to prepare, makes more than enough for leftovers for the next day’s lunch or dinner, and best of all, it’s incredibly delicious.

If you or your child are about to step into the world of braces, and you are wondering…”what in the world will they be able to eat without getting food stuck in their teeth, much less that tastes good?”
For those who have children with special dietary needs, this issue becomes compounded. The gluten and grain-free options out there tend to get stuck in braces fairly easy, and they can cause an absolute mess!
Well, fear no more because this orthodontist office has the solution for you! Caprese pizza is one of the tastiest snacks on the market that we have found kids of all ages and sizes enjoy. It comes with all of the regular toppings of your average pizza, but its soft crust is something that anyone can enjoy.
Plus, caprese pizza is completely gluten AND grain free, making it a fun-food of choice for those children who struggle with gluten intolerance (also known as Celiac’s disease) and who may be gluten or grain-sensitive.
It is relatively easy to make, if you prefer to go that route, and it can also be bought from most grocery stores nowadays at a very reasonable price. Furthermore, it comes in all shapes and sizes, and it sports multiple different cheeses and toppings to appeal to taste buds of all varieties.
Thankfully, the soft crust will not impact the teeth of those who are going through the invisalign program, and none of the ingredients will stain your or your child’s teeth so long as they are brushed within a couple of hours of eating.
So, if you have been looking for a food that anyone will enjoy, that is orthodontist approved, that is braces and invisalign friendly, and that has no grain or gluten-based ingredients, look no further than our caprese pizza recipe! You tummy (and your teeth) will be sure to say thank you!

Recipe from Vegan Society
Tasty vegan sweet potato soup is the perfect meal for someone who has just begun to wear braces. A patient’s gum tissue and teeth can sometimes feel sensitive as they begin orthodontic treatment, and a warm soup made of pureed sweet potatoes mixed with seasonings provides the nutrients needed to remain healthy. Many orthodontic patients must wear Invisalign aligners or other orthodontic treatments for as long as four years, and during that time, it is essential to continue consuming a diet that keeps teeth strong.
Finding an orthodontist with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment is the best way to determine if aligners are required for your child’s teeth. With modern three-dimensional imaging, it is possible to view what will happen to your child’s mouth with or without orthodontic treatment. For mild misalignments, your child can wear clear aligners for up to a year, but for serious malocclusions, you child will need to wear braces for a longer amount of time. There are certain types of food that an orthodontic patient shouldn’t eat to avoid damaging brackets or wires, but delicious vegan sweet potato soup is highly recommended.
